Using the ScanX Scanner - Scanning Exposed Plates

The big picture:

Scan all exposed #2 plates in template order so images populate correctly in Eaglesoft.

Why it matters:

Correct setup and plate sequence prevent image placement errors and keep the workflow moving.

Before you start

  • Confirm all ScanX plate guides are labeled for #2 plates.
  • Power on the ScanX machine.
  • Log in to Eaglesoft (ES).

Set up the patient exam

  • Open Patient.
  • Search for the patient and click Use.
  • Select the X-ray icon or bitewing radiograph.
  • Under New Exams, choose the matching template (example: FMX Horz 18).

Note:

Template film orientation appears opposite of the mounted images.

  • Horizontal images appear vertical.
  • Vertical images appear horizontal.

Start Scanning

  • Click Acquire.
  • In the ScanX Preview window, click Start.
  • Confirm the mode is Intraoral Standard.
  • Verify all ScanX slot indicators are green.

Load the plates

  • Open the barrier for plate #1.
  • Insert the plate into the far-left guide:
    • Hold by the edges.
    • Lettering faces outward.
    • The small "a" enters first.

Watch the indicator lights:

  • Green = slot available.
  • Yellow = slot busy. Wait for green before reusing.
  • Insert plate #2 into the second guide.
  • Continue loading plates from left to right.

Important rules

  • The ScanX has 4 plate slots.
  • Always scan plates in the template order (1-18 for an FMX).
  • Monitor scan progress in the left panel of the ScanX Preview window.
  • Plates are erased during scanning and ready for the next patient.

Finish

  • After all plates are scanned, click Finished.
  • Images will populate the template.
