Student Support | Microsoft 365 and Email Policies & Procedures

THIS PAGE IS VIEWED BEST IN GOOGLE CHROME OR SAFARI

Based on licensing rules with Microsoft, FVTC is limited to providing only Program Students an official FVTC email address (@fvtc.edu accounts).

Choose the appropriate group below for information on if and when you get an FVTC email, rules regarding your Office 365 account, when you will lose access and how to transition your Office 365 account.

Find the FVTC Student Email Policy on our All College Policies web page, then under Students, then click on Student Email

I am a declared program (degree-seeking) student:

What are the rules on my email account?
  • Since you have already been admitted into a program you will be provided an @fvtc.edu email account.
  • Your @fvtc.edu email account is now automatically set as your preferred email account in your student record
  • Log into your account at this website:  Student Email Login
What happens when I graduate?
  • Your Office 365 license will be deactivated one year after graduation.  This will remove your FVTC email, OneDrive files, and all other Office 365 services.  If desired, you may continue to use these services for this year.
  • An email will be sent to your @fvtc.edu and personal email 30 days before the Office 365 deactivation date.
  • On the Office 365 deactivation date your FVTC email, OneDrive files, and access to all other Office 365 services will be removed.  If you downloaded and activated Office with your FVTC account you will no longer be able to create, edit or save files on a computer or mobile device but you can still view and print files.

PLEASE NOTE: Your class history, transcripts, and grades will not be affected, and are always accessible by logging into MyFVTC with your student account.
PLEASE NOTE: If you enroll in a NEW program, your FVTC email address and services will remain
What do I need to do before the Office 365 deactivation date?
  • Email Transition:
    • Register for an email with a free provider such as Outlook (this includes OneDrive and Office Online), Gmail (this includes Google Drive and Google Docs) or Yahoo.
    • Let people you communicate with know that they need to use your new email instead of @fvtc email.
    • If your @fvtc email was used for any third party services, update the third party services to use your new email.
    • If needed, export email, contacts and/or calendar appointments from your @fvtc.edu email.  View Microsoft's export directions here.
  • OneDrive File Transition
    • Go to www.fvtc.edu > Current Student > Email Login and Docs
    • Log in with studentID@fvtc.edu.
    • Click OneDrive.
    • Click the circle to the left of Name to select all files, or just select the file(s) and folder(s) you want to keep.
Screen Shot of the button to click to select all files
    • Click Download.  Depending on your browser, a copy of your files will be downloaded to the default download location or you’ll be prompted where to save.
    • You can now upload your files to another cloud storage space (such as OneDrive personal, Google Drive, iDrive or Dropbox), or to a USB drive or other external media storage device.

Additional questions can be directed to the FVTC Helpdesk:  helpdesk@fvtc.edu or 920-735-5644 or stop by our offices in Appleton in A120.

I have applied for admission, but have not declared my program for a degree:

  • Your @fvtc.edu email account will be active when you are ADMITTED to a program, NOT when you apply.
  • In your MyFVTC Account, whatever email address is set to your "Preferred" email address will be how we communicate with you prior to being admitted to your program.
  • You can update your email address by going to this link:  MyFVTC Account Access.
PLEASE NOTE!  As a student, you do have access to Microsoft Office 365:

  • View our Student OneDrive information page for additional information about these resources.
  • You do not have to use these resources, but they are available.
When do these resources go away?
  • You will LOSE ACCESS to these resources after 365 days of inactivity (that is, you do not take or are registered for additional classes or training).
  • An email will be sent to your personal email 30 days before the Office 365 deactivation date.
  • We recommend you transfer your files to another cloud storage space (such as Google Drive, iDrive or Dropbox) for your documents.  See the next section: "How do I save my files" for step-by-step instructions.  You can also use a thumb drive, jump drive, USB drive or other external media storage device too.
