Intranet / Daily News at FVTC
Tips and strategies for using the FVTC Intranet
The FVTC Intranet, also known as the Daily News (from the home page) is an online resource for all staff, adjunct, part-time and interns for web based access to several key resources at the college. One primary purpose is to serve as a principal communication hub for the college to minimize the number of "all staff" emails. Staff are encouraged to check out the Daily News frequently for the latest college information.
Presently we are converting our older version to a new version of SharePoint Online.

When are we going live with the new Intranet/Daily News?
The new layout will be live on Monday, May 10th.
How do I get to the new Intranet/Daily News?
While we will update link to the new site (for instance on the Staff Page on the public website, if you have shortcuts, favorites or your home page on your web browser is set to open the intranet, you may have to change those.
You can use this shortcut: https://intranet.fvtc.edu
Or the full link is: https://foxvalleytechnicalcollege.sharepoint.com/sites/Intranet
You will also be able to access it when you sign into your Office 365 (email) account on the web, by clicking on the "SharePoint" icon in the menu.
Why are we updating the Intranet/Daily News?
Our current Intranet site is no longer compatible with modern browsers. Plus the support for the version we are on (SharePoint 2016) is ending.
I heard we have two intranets now. Is that true?
In order to best accommodate staff needs, we are moving the sites that receive the most traffic first.
So, while we have only ONE link to get you to the Daily News / Intranet, we will have a transition period where SOME links might point you back to the old environment.
You don't need to know what has moved, menus on either site will take you to the correct place
When will other Intranet Sites transition to SharePoint Online?
We hope to have all sites move by the end of summer. IT will reach out to your department to work through the transition process. Until then the new Intranet will link to your old site.
How do I know when to use the Intranet or when to use Teams?
The Intranet is for all staff communication and documents.
Microsoft Teams is for department and work group collaboration.
