Creating An Autodesk Instructor Account
Details on how instructors can sign up for Autodesk Education Access in order to use Autodesk products while teaching at FVTC.
Part 1: Creating an Autodesk Account
- Open a web browser of your choice (Google Chrome, Safari, Edge) (Firefox has issues)
- Navigate to https://accounts.autodesk.com/register
- Fill in your legal first name, and last name
- Fill in your FVTC email (example: jane.doe1234@fvtc.edu)
- Choose a password. This password can be different from your FVTC password.
- Check the box to consent with Autodesk terms of service
- Select Create Account
- Open your FVTC email, and find the Autodesk email to verify your account
- Press the Verify button inside your Autodesk email.
- You have now successfully created an Autodesk Account.
Part 2: Getting Educational Access to Autodesk Software
- Open a web browser of your choice
- Navigate to https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview?sorting=featured&filters=individual
- Select the Get Educational Access button on the top banner
- Select Educator under the education role (It may ask you to login first)
- Fill out your first name, last name, and select Educator in the top section.
- Enter The Following Address:

Appleton, Wisconsin - Enter The Following Institution Type: University/Post-Secondary
- Enter the Following Name of Educational Institution: Fox Valley Technical College
- Enter the Following School Website: https://www.fvtc.edu
- On the right side of the page, click the Confirm button.
Part 3: Gaining Access to Autodesk Products you Need
- Open a web browser of your choice
- Navigate to https://www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview?sorting=featured&filters=individual
- Find the bit of software you want to gain access to (example: AutoCAD)
- Click the Get Started button under your Autodesk Software of Choice
- Select Install or Download
IMPORTANT: You must click download or install on any software.
This creates the license that allows you to use the product. You do not have to actually install it at that time. - Your browser will start the download of a web install of the software you chose, you may install this on your computer if you would like. This is not necessary if the requested Autodesk software is already installed on your computer.
- Repeat Steps 1-6 to gain access to any Autodesk software you would like.
Part 4: How to Sign in to Autodesk Software Running on Windows
- Launch the Autodesk software of your choice (example: Inventor, AutoCAD, or Revit)
- In the top bar of the Autodesk Software, click the arrow down.
- Select "Sign in"
- Type in your FVTC email you used to create your account in Part 1 of this document
- Type in your password for your Autodesk account
- You should now be signed in & the software will be licensed and accessible for use
